Beatles Manager Visits US To Promote Cultural Events in Liverpool, England

Former Beatles Manager Joe Flannery is visiting the United States to promote interest in cultural arts events leading up to and during the 2008 Liverpool: European Capital of Culture.

He will be available for interviews: Tuesday-Thursday, Oct. 3-5 by phone or in person from Orlando, Florida.

Flannery, 75, of Liverpool is also working on a book entitled: Standing in the Wings, about his experiences starting at age 21 as the first booking manager for the Beatles rock 'n' roll band.

He also recently wrote the lyrics for a tribute song for John Lennon. Some of his other career highlights included: discovering the band ABBA, bringing Jimi Hendrix to London for the guitarist's European debut, and managing many of the bands and singers considered part of the "Merseyside Sound" movement.

The 2008 Liverpool: European Capital of Culture (www.liverpool08.com) is a multi-year effort to bolster culture, arts, sports, business and education in Liverpool, the birthplace of the Beatles. Flannery is the cultural ambassador for the City of Liverpool and has a US business interest with Orlando-based Echo Tree Development.
